Back in my sophomore college year, I once had a basic computer literacy subject. Yup, it's same as the ones in highschool where they teach you how to use the mouse, how to click the start button, find microsoft Word and launch the program. I know what you're thinking and yes, its an easy 4.0 (that's an "A" in blue and white standards).
Three months of breeze this subject was, and getting a 4.0 was an effort that was as easy as waking up in the middle of the night just to take a piss. But no, this is GLENN that we're talking about. Glen-the anti-authority; Glen- the non-conformist; Glen- the jackass.
The very same Glen who made a freshman highschool transfer student's life a living hell by pretending to be attracted to her and made pranks by sending anonymous roses implying that it was from some hunky classmate nicknamed "tuxedo mask" (yes Eug, IT WAS ME!! Hahaha! And I'm sorry for it heheh). The very same Glen who in the same year, stopped a fieldtrip bus just to buy smutty tabloids on the street corner (I would like to stress out that this was out of a wager and not my personal preference) just to piss our class adviser off. The very same Glen who (much to the content and enjoyment of his colleagues) made an ass of of their junior highschool class adviser (but it kinda backfired lol.)
The list goes on. heh. But oi, i'm really good guy at heart (this is for the people who'd prejudge me) I just can't help the mischievous tendencies. But I've changed my ways heh.
Anyway, In one crucial project, my professor, who's a behavioral science department professor and a die-hard green and white alumnus (isn't it weird that a computer professor would come from the behavioral science department?) tasked us to make a songsheet of whatever song we would like to choose, as an exercise of microsoft word typing and layouting proficiency. This was the type of die hard alumni peeps that would give you grade incentives if you watched your school team playing the rival school team.
To make the story short, here's what i passed: [link]
The schmuck failed me on this project and I ended up missing my 4.0 final grade.

My apologies to the people whose relatives work in the Philippine National Police.
I am convinced that our most recent batch of the natiional police force are umm.. shall we say "palpakin" (blunderers). Let me enumerate three incidents that happened in the last 3 months or so:
1. The Ortigas cover-up incident.
Just last year, a carnapping scare took the Ortigas and Pasig area and scared the piss out of everyone, including myself. To prove that the PNP are not an impotent force, it allegedly staged a cover-up wherein they caught and shot the carnappers along Ortigas avenue.
News reports revealed disputing evidences (now I'm not stressing them as proofs, only as direct evidences) over the incident. First, that the alleged carnappers were hostile, armed, and retaliated but there were no exit holes from the carjacker's vehicle. Second, that a certain police officer was allegedly hit by a bullet fired from the carjacker's weapons but later evidence showed that that certain officer actually shot himself from his own ricochet bullet (more on this later). Third, that the carjackers were armed, but forensic evidences showed that A.) the back passenger was actually ducking from the car and trying to escape suggesting he was unarmed and that the weapon was planted, and B.) the side passenger fired and dropped his pistol from his right hand. Family testimonials refuted this proof by revealing that the alleged carnapper was acually left-handed and at that time, his right arm had a fracture and could not possibly use the pistol (later confirmed by the forensic autopsy).
Finally, and possibly the stupidest thing that the law enforcement force could have done was to do the cover-up in front of a TV station. of course, it would be inevitable that the station would cover the incident. analysis of its video revealed that the alleged carjackers were not hostile, did not retaliate at all and the police made sure they were dead when the first fired at them (one police officer did not hesitate to check the scene and immediately popped a few bullets to the half-dead driver after the initial ceasefire. the video also confirmed that the police officer that was mentioned a while ago did indeed shot himself from his own ricochet bullet).
2. Pasig Meth Den Demolition
Second case in point. with no further elaboration, an identified meth den in Pasig was immediately demolished by the police with the mayor's supervision even without court order. The mayor did not give any justification of his orders (he only said that we need to destroy these kinds of places immediately so the pushers won't come back or something in that nature. very logical for a place that's quarantined and guarded). later news revealed that some drug transactions were allegedly connected to the people in city hall.
3. Dinky Soliman Capture
And now, the Coup de gras. Just last week, the former secretary of social welfare and development (while making their usual friday night rounds around the city, walking around wearing black shirts that says "oust Gloria" or something with that nature) was arrested and detained by the police because they allegedly broke the presidential decree on staging unauthorized rallies. The police later changed their charge saying that it's because the former secretary was wearing a black shirt, and with messages that could insight into sedition. this reason was changed yet again to what is now reported just today in inq7.net:
"THE POLICE are now revising their charge against former secretary of social welfare Dinky Soliman to that of buying and falsely advertising a "DKNY" imitation shirt, which she acquired for P10 from 168 Mall.
As it turns out, the real DKNY does not come in extra-short, extra-wide sizes."
...I rest my case.

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters
by Portia Nelson
Chapter One
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost ... I am helpless.
It isn't my fault.
It takes forever to get out.
Chapter Two
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don't see it.
I fall in again.
I can't believe I'm in the same place.
But it isn't my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
Chapter Three
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is still there.
I still fall in ... it's a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
Chapter Four
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
Chapter Five
I walk down another street.

"Life is a storm, my young friend. You will bask in the sunlight one moment, be shattered on the rocks the next. What makes you a man is what you do when that storm comes. You must look into that storm and shout as you did in Rome. Do your worst, for I will do mine! Then the fates will know you as we know you: as Albert Mondego, the man!"

(originally from my group blog at [link])
March 08, 2006 saw itself as the day where the blue and yellows clashed with the orange and blacks. it was the green and white's student council miting de avance.
[link] As a move by the minority party (the ones in the blue and yellow) to attack and devalue the character of the opposing orange and black presidential candidate (from the majority party), a line of homosexuals affiliated to the blue and yellows stood beside the audience as presidentiable was making his platform speech. One of them even did a floor gymnast routine after the speech was done.
This blogger leaves it to you to discern whether this action was a witty attempt or a futile one to discredit the inevitable victory of their oppenents. For years, the blue and yellows has failed to gain the majority candidacy on the general elections because of their weak specific plans of action, and their primary stigma of being an insubstantial rightist party who focuses more on activities and social events rather than than building itself as a responsible, credible political party that the orange county exudes.
[link] Interestingly, their existence is an anti-thesis of each other, as both of them complementarily represent the university student psyche. The first half is perceived as the free-spirited lasallian, while the latter, is the serious-minded one. However, when it comes to social responsibility/irresponsibility, class consciousness/unconsciousness and sympathy/apathy, lets just say that both of them have their own shares.
Azure/Or, Gules/Sable, however you would like to proudly banner your heraldry, you're all still Argent and Vert. The point isn't really about who's who and who does what, it's about exercising mutual respect. Be as it may that these exhibitions are an indication of a healty and colorul political existence, but there are also plain lines that one simply do not cross, and personal character is the first among these lines. It's a blatant fallacy and you know it. The noble virtue of mutual respect is exercised the whole year round, and not only on public situations.
This blogger assures you that a gesture done on a particular magnitude of an event is possitively correlated to the magnitude of its repercussions as the scandalous nature of this blogger knows better. lol.
Finally, to the remaining green and white students here in this group blog (or whoever else that would be vaguely interested in wasting their time reading this), this blogger strongly urges you to exercise your right to vote and more importantly, to vote wisely.
Hate messages against this blogger's stand are welcomed. But before you do, think of the reason why team B consistenly sweeps the freshmen elections while team A consistently sweeps the general elections. This blogger rests his case.

(reposted from our group blog at [link])
i was checking my mail the other day when i saw this online ad from englicom, the filipino-chinese organization in de la salle (like celadon in admu. its president stresses that its more proper to describe it as the filipino AND chinese organization and i say its adding crap icing to the dung cake). check it out:
[link]
its a photo contest project of the said org. ive been scrutinizing the branding, nature of activities, of this particular organization because even though im not a member (i dont want to join), i feel that i (actually we) are all part of it in the sense that we represent the filipino chinese community. lets take a minute of your time to digest this particular project of theirs.
its actually a project that aims to raise social awareness through a photography contest. well the idea sounded good but the way that they packaged it is simply just wrong.
peppering the advertisement with emotively charged words to describe a marginalized social sector is simply inappropriate, if not arrogant. take a particular look at the second sentence. apalling isnt it? whats even worse (or funnier) is that the mechanics of the contest are actually leading. heheh.
now, wouldnt it be nicer and would make more sense if they instead just made a sustainable long-term socio-civic activity than make this one? a quick fix for social responsibility of the filipino chinese community?
tsk tsk. it's just wrong.
